Unfortunately, after the good news that there is no delay for the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 there is now some bad news for the PC based fans of Call of Duty franchise. Surprisingly, Modern Warfare 2 will not have dedicated servers or Mod Tools for the PC community.

The Multiplayer matchmaking side of Modern Warfare 2 will be handled by something Infinity Ward are calling IWNet. By building up its own matchmaking service riding shotgun with Steam, “you can get in and play with players your same rank,” Bowling said. However, “You’re completely reliant on IWNet and there is no dedicated server or server list. You rely on IW Net for matchmaking and your games, but you still have your private matches.”

402 – “”It’s definitely going to be a change. It’s going to be a very different setup than what we’re previously used to in the Call of Duty franchise for the PC, In the long term it’s going to help the community. It changes the way and how we’re able to update and support the PC version.”

This is pretty serious, the PC guys can kiss goodbye to custom maps, server lists and big team games and say hello to Peer2Peer, matchmaking and lag! Not to mention how this will affect the competitive gaming scene.

My reason for actually buying MW2 is gone, i'm just gonna pirate it. But seriously this was the only reason (besides mouse & keyboard) to buy the PC version instead of the console one. I hate P2P, you have to find a new game every time you want to play (no more favorite servers), its laggy, the host has advance.

"you can get in and play with players your same rank" thats just stupid. I can't believe they took dedicated servers out just so new players would have easier to get in the game. Also 90 % of MW2 players have played CoD4, so if i buy it and start to play with my rank on 1, i dont want to play against noobs, but i'm forced to. It's not fun, they are way too easy to kill.

Wow. This sounds horrible. They should consider changing it, because my chances of getting the PC version are slim. I just started modding other games as well, and I hoped to have an awesome game to mod.

Thats exactly why its bad news for the PC croud. The mod scene, the clans, fav servers, custom maps and big games are all gone and they can now look forward to lag too. The PC competitive scene is pretty much F#$%ed now for MW2 on PC. The fact that IW are making it like the console is real bad news. The main reason people play on the PC is because of the stuff that is being taken away.

They just f#$^ed over a lot of people. If i was a PC gamer i would be PISSED.

COD has always been clan based....I will not buy it if thats what they are planning.....if its just a quick connect scheme with internet browsing options...fine. To many good games are lost to this type of medling on trying to decide whats best for us. No sale here.

BOTTOM LINE....im surprised they havent produced a business model....had they done so they would realize their pc based gamers will reject the idea, concept and game and ultimately spend the CASH that this buiness is all about elsewhere!!!!!...according to three clans i game with...none...will go for the game now....
